Book Review

I read two great books recently. I've been getting more into Ratzinger/Benedict's writings over the past few months. I realized I didn't much about him. A priest here suggested The Rise of Benedict XVI. This is a good read by the National Catholic Register journalist John Allen. It's a page turned, filled with fascinating notes about the election process. It's more on the political side and all that comes with electing a new pope. There's a bio chapter which is helpful getting a background of Ratzinger.

While reading that, I came across a very short memoir account, written by Ratzinger right before he became Prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, titled, Milestones. It's about 100 pages long. It's very poetic and enjoyable to read.

I highly suggest these two books if you value the writings of Pope Benedict the XVI.
